STRUCTURE

There are a pair of bean -shaped kidneys in human beings and each kidney is turn is made up of about one million tiny, highly coiled similar units, known as nephrons. Each nephron is made up of two basic components: (1) The blood  vascular component and (2) The Tubular component

(1) The blood  vascular component includes (i) a highly coiled tuft of capillaries - the glomerulus and (ii) a branching capillary network surrounding the uriniferous tubules -the pericapillary tubular network.

(2)  The tubular of (i) a blind, double -walled cup-the Bowman's capsule and (ii) coiled tubes -the proximal and distal convoluted tubules and a collection duct.
